About Me

For over 40 years I’ve had the privilege of helping people heal from childhood trauma and rediscover their true authentic self.  I’m continually awed and inspired by my clients’ courage, resilience, and determination to grow beyond the pain of the past.

My journey as a therapist began after earning my MSW at Columbia University and attending extensive post-graduate training at New York’s analytic institutes, including the Psychoanalytic Institute for Clinical Social Work. My education has been a life-long passion and continues to this day with advanced training in Trauma- informed treatment, Self-Psychology, CBT and Psychodynamic approaches, all of which help uncover both the practical tools and deeper roots of emotional pain and lasting change.

Early in my career I developed the first women’s therapy program at the Brooklyn Veterans Administration, consulted for at-risk youth programs in New York City, and provided individual therapy in private practice.

After moving to Florida in 1991 I served as Clinical Supervisor for the Jewish Family Services of Greater Miami and continued my specialty in private practice—helping adults from diverse cultures and backgrounds to heal from childhood trauma and create lives that felt authentic and whole.

MY APPROACH

Therapy is a deeply personal journey.

At the heart of my approach is empathy.  I believe that healing happens in a space where you feel safe, understood, and truly accepted.  This kind of connection opens the way to explore and process the wounds and impacts of childhood trauma—and makes the room you need to discover and develop your real, true self.

My approach is grounded in the belief that no matter what someone has been through, every person has a true self, a core essence—the part  that feels alive, vital, emotionally aware and that can feel and connect.  It’s the part that knows, “this is me—real, grounded, and okay as I am.”  It’s our natural clarity, our real needs and feelings, values, and inner steadiness—the part that knows what’s right for us.

It’s also the part that often had to be hidden in order to survive, to be loved, or to belong.

In therapy we create a relationship where all parts are welcome.  As trust builds, old patterns begin to loosen and the real true you can gently emerge at your own pace—you start to heal and reconnect with yourself and that begins to transform your life.
